Platform Lifts
A platform lift offers wheelchair users the possibility of going up and down stairs simply and quickly without assistance from anyone else.
Unlike seat lifts, it is not necessary to leave the wheelchair when using the platform lift. When folded, it is also a much better space-saver than a seat lift.
However, its disadvantage becomes apparent in the price. Platform lifts are several times more expensive than seat lifts.
Function of the platform lift
The control resembles the one on a normal stairlift. The platform lift can usually be sent up and down the stairwell with the help of a radio transmitter. In addition, the folding and unfolding of the platform is automatic. The only thing left to do is to move the wheelchair into the platform.
Additional advantages of a platform lift
The platform lift also has the outstanding function of being able to transport heavy articles up and down stairs. Hefty purchases and even large pieces of furniture can be moved without any problem onto other floors.
If you should decide on purchasing a platform lift, you should, however, be prepared to pay a higher price than for a normal stairlift.
